Prof. Dr. Andreas Busch

Prof. Busch was appointed as a Member of the Board of Management of Bayer Schering Pharma AG on February 1, 2007.
He is responsible for Global Drug Discovery.

Andreas Busch was born in Pirmasens, Germany, on August 26, 1963. He studied pharmacy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main. After gaining a Ph.D. in pharmacology in 1989, he worked at various research institutes in Germany and the United States. In 1997 Prof. Busch was appointed Head of Cardiovascular Research at Hoechst Marion Roussel, assuming the same position at Aventis as of 1999. At Sanofi-Aventis, Prof. Busch was also responsible for the two cardiology research sites in Frankfurt/Main and Paris. In 2005 he moved to Bayer HealthCare, where he served as Head of Discovery Europe for the Pharmaceuticals Division at the Wuppertal site, before taking over as Head of Global Drug Discovery at Bayer HealthCare and subsequent at Bayer Schering Pharma.

Before starting his career in industry, Prof. Busch was a Helmholtz – and Heisenberg Fellow at the University of Tübingen and the Max Planck Institute in Göttingen.
He is also an extraordinary professor at the Institute of Pharmacology of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main.
